My love for vintage began at a very early age. As a baby, my parents pushed me around the neighborhood in a Victorian baby buggy. Once I began walking, my dad took me to garage sales and flea markets to snap up all the 60's and 70's toys I could get my little hands on (I was a child of the 80's). Naturally, this vintage lifestyle extended to all areas, including my closet.
After years of experience as a vintage "picker" (buying vintage to resell to vintage shops), I opened Donna's Dress Shop in 2007. Beginning in the back of Revue Boutique, I later expanded to add new clothing to the vintage stock. More recently, my husband and I bought a building from the early 1900's that formerly housed a dance school. After a coat of paint here and a roll of vintage poppy wallpaper there, Donna's was excited to move into its new permanent home in June 2009.
Donna's Dress Shop focuses on wearable vintage - whether it's for class, the office, or your birthday party. While we keep a good stock of classic vintage pieces, Donna's also keeps up with current trends, so our vintage is up-to-date, rather than something you might see at a flashback party.
Donna's new clothing also keeps with the vintage styling. Whether its a ruffle, a print, or the way a dress is cut, each new piece has some element of vintage in their design.
There are always new things in the shop! I put out new vintage every week. I go to market to buy new clothing for the shop, and get in several shipments every week. With the new items, I only order one or two of each size, so when we are out of something, we are out. While that means you are fighting with hundreds of other girls for that red dress in a medium, it also means you won't see your dress all over town.
Happy shopping!
